Next in our series of Breakfast Briefings, Michael Slonim, Managing Director of VICE will join Screen Producers Australia CEOMatthew Deaner in conversation at Fox Studios.

Slonim has overseen VICE’s local expansion into Australasia's most influential youth media company and Brand of the Year at the 2017 Publish Awards. He orchestrated a defining partnership with SBS to convert free-to-air TV channel SBS2 into SBS VICELAND in November 2016, now featuring VICE’s award-winning programming.

VICE, now celebrating its 15th year as an evolving media platform, are now actively commissioning content locally. Slonim will discuss initiatives with Screen Australia, new industry engagement and procuring new producing talent and projects. He will discuss the evolution of VICE content from print to multi-screen and the launch of VICELAND on SBS.

Slonim will also discuss producing gold standard video content for the fickle and insatiable youth demographic, forging innovative distribution partnerships and the acceleration of branded content and fostering direct relationships with brands.

Myki’s crystal ball was working well in 2003, when he launched Canadian-born VICE Magazine into the Australian market. Operating in only three countries at the time, the underground magazine has since expanded into the world’s leading youth media brand, with a global footprint in 30+ countries across mobile, digital and linear platforms.

As managing director, Myki has overseen VICE’s local expansion into Australasia's most influential youth media company and Brand of the Year at the 2017 Publish Awards. He orchestrated a defining partnership with SBS to convert free-to-air TV channel SBS2 into SBS VICELAND in November 2016, now featuring VICE’s award-winning programming.

He has also developed VICE into Australia’s most awarded in-house branded content studio, working with preeminent brands such as Google, Ebay, Schweppes and Air New Zealand.

Matthew Deaner is our Chief Executive Officer. Matthew sits across all aspects of Screen Producers Australia's advocacy work, industrial negotiations, events and operational issues. He also works closely with our Council to set the strategic direction of the organisation as well as identify and execute new business development opportunities.
